Frequently asked
Are these calculations accurate for client-facing advice?
The tools apply the exact statutory formulas from current South African legislation. Estate duty uses the s4A(1) abatement of R3,500,000 and the two-tier rate structure. Transfer duty applies all six Budget 2026/27 brackets. PAYE uses the R17,712/month UIF ceiling. Results carry tiered disclaimers — HIGH for estate duty and intestate succession, LOW for transfer duty and SARB rates. Confirm with a registered tax practitioner or attorney for formal client advice.
What does 'AI-callable' mean in practice?
Each tool is exposed via a Model Context Protocol (MCP) SSE endpoint on Railway. When a Claude Desktop user has the endpoint configured, Claude can call tools like calculate_estate_duty or calculate_transfer_duty directly in conversation — receiving structured, citable statutory results. Developer plan subscribers (R1,999/month) get SSE access. All tools are also callable via REST API.
How often are the statutory figures updated?
Figures are updated after every South African Budget (typically February) and after every SARB MPC meeting. Current figures reflect Budget 2026/27 and the MPC decision of 20 November 2025 (repo 6.75%). The RA rand cap increased from R350,000 to R430,000 in Budget 2026. The VAT registration threshold increased from R1,000,000 to R2,300,000 in Budget 2026.
What is the difference between the Free Trial and a paid plan?
The Free Trial gives 3 calculations with no account required. Starter (R249/month) gives 150 calculations with a personal REST API key. Practitioner (R799/month) gives 400 calculations across 5 users. Developer (R1,999/month) gives 2,000 calculations plus MCP SSE access for Claude Desktop. Enterprise from R5,000/month for firms needing custom contracts.
